    Here are some of the most common internet e-mail providers and tips on accessing them through our e-mailer.

Top   AOL
    At present, AOL does not allow you to send or receive e-mail except through the AOL software.
     
Top   BT Connect
  Real name or Alias
Enter your real name.
     
  E-mail address
This is your e-mail address ending @btconnect.com.
Eg. jennifercox@btconnect.com
     
  POP Host
Enter pop3.btconnect.com
     
  POP Account name
This is the beginning of your BT Connect e-mail address, up to but not including the @btconnect.com.
Eg. jennifercox
     
  POP Password
Enter your BT Connect e-mail account password.
     
  SMTP Host
Enter mail.btconnect.com
     
Top   CompuServe (versions 3, 4, 5)
  Real name or Alias
Enter your real name.
     
  E-mail address
This is your CompuServe user ID in the format xxxxxx.xxx, with the comma replaced by a full-stop, and @cs.com at the end. Alternatively, if you have registered an alias e-mail address you can use that.
Eg. 123456.789@cs.com
(or an alias such as jennifercox@cs.com)
     
  POP Host
Enter pop.compuserve.com
     
  POP Account name
This is your CompuServe user ID in the format xxxxxx,xxx
     
  POP Password
Enter your CompuServe mail-only password (not your log-in password that you use to get in to CompuServe).
     
  SMTP Host
Enter smtp.compuserve.com
     
  Click the Advanced view button
     
  SMTP Connection
Choose ESMTP - Authorised login
     
Top   CompuServe 2000 (version 6)
  Real name or Alias
Enter your real name.
     
  E-mail address
This is your e-mail address ending @cs.com.
Eg. jennifercox@cs.com
     
  POP Host
Enter imap.cs.com
     
  POP Account name
This is the beginning of your CompuServe e-mail address, up to but not including the @cs.com.
Eg. jennifercox
     
  POP Password
Enter your CompuServe log-in password that you use to get in to CompuServe.
     
  SMTP Host
Enter smtp.cs.com
     
  Click the Advanced view button
     
  SMTP Connection
Choose ESMTP - Authorised login
     
Top   Hotmail
  At present, Microsoft only allow you to use Outlook to access Hotmail (which is owned by Microsoft).
     
Top   Lycos
    At present, Lycos do not have a POP or SMTP server so you can only send and receive e-mail through a browser.
     
Top   Pipex / UUNet
  Connect via
Choose your Pipex dial-up connection.
     
  Real name or Alias
Enter your real name.
     
  E-mail address
This is your e-mail address ending @dial.pipex.com.
Eg. jennifercox@dial.pipex.com
     
  POP Host
Enter pop.dial.pipex.com
     
  POP Account name
This is your Pipex User ID, which is a short combination of lower-case letters and numbers.
Eg. xyz69
     
  POP Password
This is your Pipex User password, which is 8 random lower-case letters.
Eg. dekghtas
     
  SMTP Host
Enter smtp.dial.pipex.com
     
    Note Pipex allows you to receive e-mail using any dial-up connection, but you must use your Pipex dial-up connection to send e-mail.
     
Top   Yahoo!
  Real name or Alias
Enter your real name.
     
  E-mail address
This is your e-mail address ending @yahoo.com.
Eg. jennifercox@yahoo.com
     
  POP Host
Enter pop.mail.yahoo.com
     
  POP Account name
This is the beginning of your Yahoo! e-mail address, up to but not including the @yahoo.com.
Eg. jennifercox
     
  POP Password
Enter your Yahoo! e-mail account password.
     
  SMTP Host
Enter smtp.mail.yahoo.com
     
  Click the Advanced view button
     
  SMTP Connection
Choose ESMTP - Authorised login
     
    Note You must be a subscriber to Yahoo! Delivers (which is free) if you want to use our e-mailer with your Yahoo! account.
